My LPA is registered — what do I actually do with it?
Answered by the SAMEDAY LPA team — qualified estate planner
Keep the original safe, make certified copies (more on this below), and tell your attorneys it exists and where to find it. You don't need to do anything else until the day comes when you need to use it. When that day comes, your attorneys present a copy to the people they're dealing with — banks, doctors, care homes, HMRC. Certified copies can be made by a solicitor or by you (the donor) — each copy needs every page certified. Some people give certified copies to their attorneys in advance; others keep them and hand them over when needed. We provide three certified copies as part of our service.
